    Richard “Buck” and Ida Buchanan, Fredonia, will celebrate their 50th wedding
anniversary with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008 at the
Fredonia Senior Center in Fredonia.

Dodge City Lions Club
    The Dodge City Lions Club met at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at Casey's Cowtown for its regular meeting.  The featured speakers was Charlie Meade.  He talked about some of his experiences as a deputy U.S. Marshal and as an ambassador of good will from Dodge City.
    The next meeting will be at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at Casey's Cowtown.

    Specialist James A. Butcher recently graduated in class 06-08 from the U.S. Army Ranger School at Ft. Benning, Georgia. The Airborne Rangers are an elite, special operations force of the U.S. Army Infantry. Butcher completed the nine-week school, which includes three 21 day phases held under severe mental and physical stress. Phase I is a course in the forests of southwestern Georgia that includes indoctrination, intense physical training and squad combat. Phase II takes place in the mountains of northern Georgia where candidates learn the ropes of upper and lower mountaineering, mountain techniques and tactical operations. Phase III is conducted in Florida. Called the swamp phase, training here focuses on leadership and survival.

Jason and Tammy Putnam, Dodge City, are the parents of a daughter, Breckyn Rae Putnam, born May 30, 2008.  Grandparents are Roger and Nancy Laudick, Dodge City; Steve and Melinda Putnam, Osawatomie; Carolyn Putnam, Reading.  Great-grandparents are Leona Laudick, Spearville; Barbara Scott, Rogers, Ark.; James and Lucille Neeld, Lenexa.

Kansas Genealogical Society
    The Kansas Genealogical Society met Sunday, 13 July 2008 at the Village Square Mall. Vice-President, Ruby Schaffer called the meeting to order.

    The class of Dodge City Senior High will be celebrating 20 years of Demon Tales for the class of 1988 in 2008. 

    Leona Laudick of Spearville will be observing her 85th birthday on July 30, 2008

Leroy and Stellie Huelskamp of Fowler will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday August 2, 2008 with a celebration at the Forst Center in Meade.
