Koerners to celebrate 60th

 Ervin and Helen Koerner of Ness City will celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary and Ervin’s 80th Birthday with a mass of Thanksgiving on Saturday, June 13 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ness City.  A family gathering will follow with a reception and supper at the Sacred Heart Cafeteria.
    Ervin Koerner and Helen Haas (Koerner) were married on May 12, 1949 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Hays, Ks. Ervin was born on June 11, 1929 and Helen was born on Oct 24, 1928 both in Ellis Co. Ervin graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy and Helen graduated from Girls Catholic High School in Hays, Ks.  After one year of work in Hays, they moved to a farm near McCracken, then to their present home and farm in Ness County.
    The couple’s 11 children and spouses are:  Larry and Kathy Koerner, Crete, Neb.; Larry and Barbara Bieker, Hays; Dennis & Karen Koerner, Garden City; Laverne and Dorothy Stieben, Hays; Rob and Donna Metzker, Ness City; Kenneth and Patty Koerner, Ness City; Greg Koerner, Dodge City; Eldon and Mary Ellen Stoecklein, Hays; Jerry and Karen Casey, Plainville; Kevin and Laura House, El Dorado; and Adam and Janice Showalter, Alexander.  They have 39 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
