The Dodge City High School Red Demon tennis team finished seventh in a field of eight teams Thursday at the Salina South Invitational tournament. Kapaun took first, Salina Central placed second and South earned a third place finish.
    Melissa Roetzer went 2-1 on the day and placed fifth in No. 1 singles play. The No. 1 doubles team of Taylor Shrader and Tara Schubert went 0-2 for an eighth place finish.
    Jenay Unruh placed seventh in No. 2 singles with her 1-2 finish, and the team of Danielle Jones and Kylie Newton placed sixth in No. 2 doubles by going 1-2 on the day. The varsity team will look to bounce back Saturday in Garden City. The tournament is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.
