Several area cowboys and cowgirls finished well in their respective events at last weekend's Kansas Professional Rodeo Finals in Scott City.
    Heidi Hazen of ashland earned $2,500 in breakaway roping by never finishing lower than second place in any of the three rounds. Ford saddle bronc rider Brett Olive won the third round at the finals and took home $1,513.02 for his efforts. He is also the KPRA year-end saddle bronc riding champion.
    His brother Brody Olive place second in the bull riding competition's first round and third in the average to take home $614.34. Dodge City native and current Cimarron resident josh Sandoval wrapped up his fifth KPRA bull riding championship at Scott City and took home $1,500 for his work.
    Cimarron Barrel racer Sherry Robinson placed fourth in all three rounds of her event and took second in the average. Dodge's Kylene Orebaugh placed third in the average as well.
