The Dodge City High School Red Demon freshman volleyball teams were in action Saturday in two different area tournaments.

    The A team played in a five-team round robin in Pratt and dominated its competition, going 4-0. The A team improved its record to 18-0 on the season.

    Ashley Stephenson served for 21 consecutive points in the team's first match against the Kingman Eagles. The Demons took the match 25-6, 25-6.
    The A team beat the Garden Plain Owls in three sets, 25-12, 22-25 and 15-12 for their second win. They followed the win with two-set wins against the host Pratt Greenbacks, 25-18 and 25-18, and the Chaparral Roadrunners, 25-9 and 25-9.
    The freshman B team went 1-2 in an invitational tournament in Cimarron and did not make it into bracket play. They started the day off with a three-set win against the Larned Indians, 25-11, 22-25 and 15-8.
    The B team lost to Ulysses 20-25 and 23-25 and followed the loss with another to Holcomb, 17-25 and 25-27.
    The freshman team will be in action today at home in a triangular match against Liberal and Garden City.
