A small garage at 11150 126 Road was destroyed when it caught fire late Sunday afternoon, but no one was hurt.
The garage's owner had just left the property when the fire broke out, and a neighbor reported the blaze to authorities, said Ford County Fire Lt. Kyle Schulte. Ford County firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 4:45 p.m. and had it under control within 15 minutes after their arrival, and they were still mopping up and hosing down charred debris shortly before 6 p.m.
The garage was not attached to any other buildings, and it did not contain anything of value, Schulte said. He added that the fire did not spread beyond the garage's walls, but some embers flew over and started a small blaze on the roof of a nearby building.
An approximately 500-gallon propane tank was next to the garage, but Schulte said the fire did not touch it. A nearby vehicle also escaped unscathed.
Schulte said the total damage was probably between $2,000 and $3,000.
He added that the fire department had not yet determined what caused the blaze.
