The Kansas Department of Transportation has chosen nine southwest Kansas projects to receive funding under the federal stimulus package. Here's a list of the projects in the Daily Globe's coverage area:
    • Cimarron: $802,002 for reconstructing a portion of Avenue A (U.S. Highway 50) from Fifth Street east two and a half blocks. The project consists of replacing the existing pavement with concrete. Total estimated cost: $1 million.
    • Hodgeman County: $160,000 for a mill and overlay of Hodgeman County Road 226 in Hanston. Total estimated cost: $170,000.
    • Dodge City: $99,000 to replace an expansion joint on the 14th Avenue bridge over the Arkansas River. Total estimated cost: $165,000.
    Each of the chosen projects will require local matching funds.
