Two 17-year-olds, one 16-year-old and a 15-year-old were nabbed near the USD 443 transportation building on suspicion of spray-painting graffiti at the building, Dodge City Police Chief John Ball said in a news release. Ball did not release the boys' names due to their ages.
The 15-year-old hails from Wichita, and the other three live in Dodge City.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday, officers from the police department and the Ford County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the transportation building to investigate a graffiti report, Ball said. When the officers arrived, they learned that the suspects had run into the track and field area of Memorial Stadium.
The officers closed off the area and went into the stadium to locate the suspects, who were caught a short time later.
A subsequent investigation, which is continuing, linked the four boys to at least 12 recent incidents of graffiti, Ball said.
"The facts of the case are similar enough that we can link them all," he said.
Anyone with information on Monday's incident or any other cases is encouraged to call the police department at 225-8126 or CrimeStoppers at either 227-7867 or 1-800-424-4414.
