For most kids, the only thing better than a big shiny truck is a whole parking lot full of big shiny trucks.

And the only thing better than that is the freedom to climb all over every rig in sight, honking horns, turning steering wheels, pushing buttons and talking to big guys wearing tool belts.

For most kids, the only thing better than a big shiny truck is a whole parking lot full of big shiny trucks.
And the only thing better than that is the freedom to climb all over every rig in sight, honking horns, turning steering wheels, pushing buttons and talking to big guys wearing tool belts.
The Dodge City Civic Center parking lot was transformed into a truck lover's paradise Monday when the Department of Parks and Recreation invited county and city departments, as well as various local companies, to drive their vehicles on over and just park for a couple of hours. Along with every truck came a few good men.
Parks and rec also invited every kid in town to show up. This turned out to be a marriage made in heaven. The kids showed all the enthusiasm and awe of genuine fans, and the truck's crew members were glad to meet the people who truly appreciate the beauty of a good truck.
The arena was practically surrounded by just about every kind of truck a kid could hope for: fire trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks, concrete trucks, tankers, back hoes, dirt movers, snow plows, construction vehicles, and even a couple of armored tanks.
