    Esther L. Ruiz, 84, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City.
    She was born September 14, 1924 at Offerle, the daughter of Eleodoro Rodriguez and Rosa Soliz.  On June 19, 1943 she married Willie Ruiz at Dodge City.  He preceded her in death on April 8, 2006.
    A lifetime area resident, she was a housekeeper for HM Skaggs for a number of years as well as a babysitter at Plaza Lanes Bowling Alley in Dodge City.
    Survivors include three sons, William “Bill” Ruiz and wife Janice, Dodge City, Bernie “Benny” Ruiz and wife Judy Taylor, Sarasota, Florida and Robert “Bobby” Ruiz, Orlando, Fla.; her daughter, Betty Palmer and husband, Mike, Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Manuel “J.R.” Rodriguez, Peabody and Francis “Franny” Rodriguez and wife Virginia, Enid, Okla.; her sister, Margaret Rodriguez, Dodge City; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
    Vigil Service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.  Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church with Fr. Ted A. Skalsky presiding.  Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.  Burial will be in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City.
