   Victoria Schaapveld Burnett, age 58, of Pinehurst, N.C., died on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
    Vicki was born in Dodge City, KS, to Richard and Eunice Schaapveld. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart Catholic School, high school in Lincoln, NE, and Jacksonville, FL, and finished her education at Florida State University. Vicki and Randy were married on August 19, 1972. They lived in Tampa, FL; Chicago, IL; Clarksville, MD; Frederick, MD; and retired in Pinehurst, N.C., in May 2009.
    Vicki loved her family and friends and loved animals. She participated in several Breast Cancer Walks, including a 3-Day Walk from Maryland to Washington, D.C. She volunteered in many communities. These included Animal Welfares as a Vet Tech and surgical operation, Animal Shelters, Teaching Quadrille and Therapeutic Riding for children with special needs.
    She was chairperson for scholarship fundraising for students at St. Catherine Drexel in Frederick, MD. She was a member of a Quadrille Team in Clarksville, MD. She was involved in The Newcomers Club in Pinehurst. She attended church at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pinehurst. She was artistically gifted and enjoyed drawing.
    Vicki was known for her contagious laugh and ability to enjoy everyone and everything around her. She always found joyful ways to see interesting things in life — she taught us wonderment in the moment. Her smile was endearing and uplifting.
    Her life was never about Vicki, but rather sticking to her mission to make others happy. She once said but always lived by, “Be open to the lesson, learn it quickly, get on with life and love each other intensely!”
    She is survived by her husband, Randy Burnett; her daughter, Erin Traille and husband, Dominick; son, Bill Burnett and companion, Erin Tyrrell; three grandchildren, Tori Burnett-Faulkner, Kieran Burnett and Tristan Daniel. She is also survived by her mother, Eunice Schaapveld of Dodge City, KS; three sisters: Jenny Rulien and husband, David, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sharon Feaster and husband, Chuck, of Jacksonville, FL, and Kathy DeCoito and husband, Randy, of Lincoln, NE.  8 nieces, 3 nephews, 2 great-nieces and a great-nephew also survive her.
    In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be sent to Susan G. Komen For the Cure or your local Animal Welfare Society or Animal Shelter.
    A memorial service will be held at a later date.
