It will be another couple of days to find out who wins the Class 2-1A regional baseball championship between Minneola and Sublette.

After a half-inning, rain started to come down and the game was suspended until Thursday with a start time of 4 p.m.

The game will be in Elkhart, and starts where it left off in the bottom of the first with two outs and Minneola’s Matt McClaren on second.

It would appear that the rain helps Sublette, which just finished a hard-fought eight-inning game against Spearville to reach the championship. Minneola, meanwhile, played a five-inning blowout.
“I think we would have won tonight if we would have kept playing,” Minneola head coach Ed Chamberlain said.
Minneola entered the game after defeating Elkhart 13-3 earlier in the day in semifinal action.
Freshman Brandi Shumate received the win.
“He fell behind a lot, but worked out of every jam he had,” Chamberlain said. “For a freshman to stay composed like that it is great. ... I can’t say enough about freshman to be in a spot like that and come up big.”
Minneola got off to a good start as Kameron Ptacek and McClaren scored in the first inning.
Elkhart had a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the third, and the Wildcats scored 11 unanswered runs to pull away.
