    The USD 443 Board of Education continued studying a familiar topic on Tuesday: building a new middle school. And the board moved closer to approving a plan.
    The school district has proposed building a new middle school before, using proceeds from a $59.8 million bond issue. But voters rejected that proposal in January 2009, sending the district back to square one.
    More than a year later, district officials are still looking at ways to relieve overcrowding at Dodge City Middle School.
    School board members discussed their perception of the community's thinking during Tuesday's work session.
    "I think the public understands we need more space," said President Dan Reichenborn, "and they know we're thinking about scheduling an election. They want to know how much it's going to cost."
