The Dodge City High School Lady Demons softball team is playing in a Class 6A regional tournament today.

    Dodge City (10-10), the No. 7 seed, take on sixth-seeded Derby (12-8) at 3 today at Two Rivers Youth Complex.

    The four-team regional was initially scheduled for Wednesday, although rainy weather forced postponements until today.

    Top-ranked Wichita Northwest (19-1) plays Wichita Southeast (3-17) at 4:45.

    The two winning teams play at 6:30.

    Dodge City’s boys and girls track and field teams head to the 6A regional meet today at Wichita Southeast.
    The meet starts at 3.
    DaShonda Johnson, the Western Athletic Conference champion in the 100-meter hurdles, will be vying to qualify for the state track and field championships next weekend at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
    Johnson clocked 15.47 seconds at the WAC meet, shy of her 15.0 best. Senior Lauren Marshall was a second-place finisher at the WAC meet in that event (16.87).
    Sophie Shaull of DCHS, the WAC champion in the long jump (16-7), is gunning for 17-0 at today’s regional meet. Shaull will also be competing in the triple jump, an event she placed second at the WAC meet  at 35-8.
    Erin Sughroue was a third-place finisher at the WAC meet in the long jump at 16-0.
