Brianne Scott and Ashley VandeVeen came to Dodge City Community College together from Canada to play softball, and they will leave together to play at Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D.
“I am excited about it,” Scott said. “I don’t think I am ready to stop playing yet, so I am glad, I am playing another two years … (Not playing would) probably be boring. I have been playing it since I was four, so I have no idea  what it would be like (without softball). It would be a change, that is for sure.”
Scott and VandeVeen both grew up near Vancouver, British Columbia, and have made the same college choices, but VandeVeen said it was not planed.
“We were more like opponents before Dodge,” VandeVeen said.” We have gotten a lot closer for sure, we lived together in dodge and we had to come close. She is a really great girl and I like her a lot. So it will be good to go up there with her.
“We did not decide anything together (on going to Mayville). We both had our own decision, we both had our own schools to look at and we both really liked that school. They had a good program for her and good program for me. The coaches are really nice.”
Along with having VandeVeen as a friend at Mayville, Scott’s sister Jaime Scott will be playing there as well.
Jaime Scott plays catcher and Brianne Scott pitches, along with playing everything else.
