Starting next month, Dodge City residents will pay an additional $3.24 for using the city's wastewater service.
The Dodge City Commission authorized the city Monday to raise its rates for wastewater service. The rate increase will generate additional revenue to retire the city's debt for the new water reclamation plant, which will be located north of town.
The monthly service charge for wastewater service will rise from $5.45 to $8.45 starting in June, according to information from City Hall. Also, the charge per 1,000 gallons of wastewater will go up by 2 percent, from $1.92 to $1.96.
The increase is expected to generate an additional $600,000 each year.
