DaShonda Johnson won the 100-meter hurdles and Lauren Marshall placed third on Friday during a Class 6A regional track and field meet at Wichita Southeast.

    The duo from Dodge City High School were two of many Red Demons to qualify for this weekend’s Class 6-1A state meet in Wichita.

    Dodge City’s 4x800 relay — Jasmine Estrada, Jessica Eaton, Ashton Moore and Ines Rodriguez — also won first place in a time of 10:17.84.

    Dodge City’s 4x800 relay — Jasmine Estrada, Jessica Eaton, Ashton Moore and Ines Rodriguez — also won first place in a time of 10:17.84.
    Moreover, Erin Sughroue, second place in the high jump (5-0) and Summer Wilson, third place (4-10) also are headed for Wichita.
    Rodriguez also qualified individually for the state meet after finishing fourth in the 800 in a time of 2:27.80,  and Sophie Shaull in the triple jump, who placed fourth (33-9 1/2).
    Rebecca Oberley qualified in the discus, finishing fourth (94-1).
    The Red Demons’ 4x100 relay  — featuring Johnson, Wilson, Sughroue and Keasha Buckner —qualified for state in a third-place time of 50.50 seconds.
    Dodge’s girls finished fifth in the team standings with 69 1/2 points.

Williams, Campbell prevail
    For Dodge City’s boys, Terrence Williams won both the triple jump (46-5 1/4) and the high jump (6-4), while Bruce Campbell won the discus (152-4 1/4).
    Bryce Sonday was a third-place finisher in the discus (142-8 1/4), and Jean-Damien Boyer also qualified in the 200, finishing fourth (23.40).
    Dodge’s boys finished in seventh place in the regional with 44 1/2 points.
