Bonnie C. Schuette, 57, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at her home in Dodge City after a courageous battle with cancer.


    Bonnie C. Schuette, 57, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at her home in Dodge City after a courageous battle with cancer.
    She was born Feb. 26, 1953, at Dodge City, the daughter of Mathias and Barbara Stremel Schomaker. On July 1, 1978, she married Robert “Bob” Schuette at Spearville. He survives.
    A longtime Dodge City resident, she taught at Sacred Heart Cathedral School from 1977 to 1980 and then again in 1982 to present, most recently serving as head teacher. She also taught for one year at Olmitz and one year at Phillipsburg.  She received the KAIRS Distinguished Teacher 2006 Dodge City Diocese Division Award. 
    Other survivors include her son, Scott Schuette and wife, Shelley, Dodge City; two daughters, Jennifer Schuette and fiancé, Ryan Rozean, Topeka, and Kitrina Schuette, Dodge City; her parents, Spearville; two brothers, Wayne Schomaker and wife, Nancy, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Craig Schomaker and wife Leann, Bristol, Colo.; her sister, Judy Droste, Cimarron; and two grandchildren.
    A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Ted A. Skalsky presiding. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
    Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
