Western Plains Medical Complex announced today that Ron Butler will be serving as the hospital's interim CEO.
John E. Walker, the current chief executive officer, has accepted a promotion to the position of CEO at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, W.Va. Both hospitals are a part of LifePoint Hospitals.
“Ron has more than 20 years of experience in hospital administration in both CEO and COO roles,” said Father Dennis Zimmerman, chair of the hospital’s board of trustees. “I understand that he has served as an interim CEO at nine different hospitals and knows the importance of maintaining good communication during these times of transition. We welcome him and will appreciate his expertise.”
Butler has a long career in health care that began when he was in the military and served as a medic. He later earned two bachelor's degrees: one in physical education and the other in physical therapy. He was a practicing physical therapist for a number of years before returning for his master’s degree and changing his focus to hospital administration.
A national search for a permanent CEO is ongoing.
