    It’s sitting on my counter. It was a tough decision. Mixed opinions came in from all sides. But then, I had the deciding comment made to me — if you like black licorice, you’ll like absinthe. If you hate licorice, you’ll hate absinthe.
    I’m a freak. I love black licorice. Hate red. Hate all those other knockoff flavors. Anise was the taste for me. So, I bit the bullet and purchased some. And since this is the first time I’ve ever had the liquor, I have to taste it neat. It’s the only way to get the proper flavors. So, once I’d finished my run with the dog, I poured a small snifter of it.
    Did I mention this tastes like black licorice? Like, black licorice in liquid form. I opened the bottle and took a deep whiff. The anise smell quickly rose to the top and overpowered the usual smell of alcohol.
