The Dodge City Trail of Fame will receive a $30,000 boost for its cultural heritage center in downtown Dodge.
The Dodge City and Ford County Commissions voted Wednesday to contribute $30,000 in sales tax money to the Western Heritage Center, using a portion of the money earmarked for implementing the tourism master plan. The Trail of Fame will have to provide a dollar for dollar match in cash, pledges or in-kind contributions.
Trail of Fame President Jim Johnson said the organization is still putting together financing for the project, but the board of directors has already raised enough money to match the grant.
"We're in very good shape there," he said.
