Virginia Ann Carter was born in Dodge City on January 6, 1923, to the late Virgil and Estey Beals Carter and died on May 25, 2010.


    Virginia Ann Carter was born in Dodge City on January 6, 1923, to the late Virgil and Estey Beals Carter and died on May 25, 2010. 
    She is survived by a godson, Kapono Beamer, Honolulu, Hawaii; siblings, David Carter and Sara Downing; niece, Nancy Clubreath; good friend, Maja Gitte Egholm.
    She was educated at Colorado Women's College and Eastman School of Music, Gann Carter was a well-known composer of Hawaiian music.
    She was employed in Los Angeles by Western Airlines as the International Manager of Meetings, Marketing and Conventions.
    Retired to Palm Springs, Gann served on the boards of numerous charities, public service organizations and, most notably, was instrumental in the re-establishment of the Welwood Murray Memorial Library, where she served as president of the board for ten years until its closing last year.
    Services will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1400 Avenida Caballeros, Palm Springs, Calif., on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. with burial at Palm Springs Cemetery, DeVall Road, Cathedral City, at 2 p.m.
