Rudy M. “The Godfather” Esquibel, 66, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City.


     Rudy M. “The Godfather” Esquibel, 66, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Good Samaritan Center in Dodge City.
     He was born Oct. 18, 1944, in Dodge City, the son of Rudy Sr. and Frances (Gonzalez) Esquibel.
Rudy was an inspiration to many individuals. He was inducted into the Kansas Softball Hall of Honor for a lifetime of dedication to the sport.
     Rudy is survived by one son, Sabin Esquibel of Dodge City; his mother, Frances Ontiveros of Dodge City; two brothers, Jerry Ontiveros of Woodland, Calif., and Leo Ontiveros of Dodge City; and one sister, Rita Ontiveros of Protection.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Esquibel Sr.; one brother, Teddy Ontiveros; and his dad, Alex Ontiveros.
     A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City.  The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, with the Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
     At Rudy’s request, there is no visitation.
