The Daily Globe added a new addition to its team Monday.
Sports reporter Garrett Ritonya arrived in Dodge to begin working at the Daily Globe. He will concentrate on Dodge City High School, Dodge City Community College and other area sports.
Ritonya said he is excited to start his career as a sports reporter in Dodge City. He is a 2010 graduate University of Nebraska at Kearney. He graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Ritonya comes to the field with an array of skills, including photography and multimedia.
He said that for him, sports reporting is a dream job.
"Being able to make a living watching the things that you love, I don't know what could be better," he said.
Daily Globe General Manager, Emily Shultz, said Ritonya will be a solid addition to the team.
And she made a special point to thank stringers and coaches who have stepped up to help the Daily Globe in the absence of a sports writer.
"We have been so grateful to the coaches and our stringers for their help during this time without a sports writer. And we really appreciate it," she said.  "Garrett brings with him such a breadth of experience and he is so enthusiastic. We are so excited he has joined our team and we know that our community will enjoy getting to know him, too."
