A Dodge City man who allegedly tried to kill a woman was charged Tuesday with seven counts, including attempted first-degree murder.


     A Dodge City man who allegedly tried to kill a woman was charged Tuesday with seven counts, including attempted first-degree murder.
     The other charges against Victor M. Pantoja-Medrano are aggravated burglary, aggravated child endangerment, criminal damage, felony obstruction, aggravated sexual battery and criminal threat, said Dodge City Police Lt. Colleen Brooks-Francis.
     Pantoja-Medrano's bond was set at $1 million during a brief hearing in Ford County District Court, but his attorney has not been appointed yet. His next hearing is tentatively set for Oct. 6 in Ford County District Court.
     Brooks-Francis said officers were dispatched at 3:24 a.m. Monday to 2700 Avenue A to investigate a domestic disturbance. When they arrived at the scene, they encountered an injured woman.
Brooks-Francis said she could not comment on whether the woman was hospitalized due to her injuries.
     Two children were in the house when the dispute broke out, but Brooks-Francis said she could not comment on whether they were harmed. She said they are now safe with their mother at an undisclosed location.
     Brooks-Francis said she could not release the victim's name or comment on the nature of her injuries or her relationship to Pantoja-Medrano. She also declined to comment on what caused the dispute.
