The national trade association for the trucking industry is keeping former Kansas Gov. Bill Graves as its president and chief executive officer for three more years.

The American Trucking Association says it has agreed with Graves on a new contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Graves has led the organization since leaving office as governor in 2003 following two four-year terms. He served eight years before that as Kansas secretary of state.

His family has long had ties to the trucking industry. Graves' father started a Salina-based truck line in the 1930s, selling it in 1980.
