Two former longtime members of the Kansas National Guard will be honored with induction into its Hall of Fame.


Two former longtime members of the Kansas National Guard will be honored with induction into its Hall of Fame.

The induction takes place Nov. 6 for retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Steven D. Evans and retired Command Sgt. Major George F. Stevens.

Evans spent more than three decades in the National Guard, including service with the 42nd Army Band and 35th Division Band in Kansas. He first joined the Guard in 1963 with the 40th Army Band of the Mississippi National Guard.

Stevens served for more than 40 years beginning in 1965, serving in field units until 1988 when he was promoted to sergeant major.
