Hodgeman County 44
After being outplayed and shutout for one quarter of football, the Longhorns from Hodgeman County exploded for 44 points in the final three periods to defeat Spearville 44-22 on Thursday night.
The Lancers jumped out to an early 6-0 lead over Hodgeman as Devin Bailey scored for one-yard out.
Jared Borger of Hodgeman would account for the next four touchdowns for the Longhorns to blow the game wide open. In the second quarter, Borger would score from eight yards out to give them the 8-6 lead after the two-point conversion. He would then hook up with Austin Pfanisteel on a 20-yard pass play to go up 14-6 at half.
Once the halftime break reconvened, Borger added two more touchdown runs of 17 yards and one yard to cement the game for Hodgeman.
Spearville would score two more rushing touchdowns from Bailey and Hunter Heiland, but those would be cancelled out by two more Borger scores, who would finish with five rushing scores and one passing touchdown.
Scott City 50
Cimarron couldn't climb out of a 28-0 first quarter hole, as the Bluejays fell to visiting Scott City 50-0.
Scott jumped out to that early lead thanks to three rushing touchdowns from Colborn Crouchman (six yards) and Dalton Buehler (26 and 46 yards).
Buehler would be involved in the fourth touchdown of the quarter for the Beavers, finding himself on the receiving end of a 54-yard strike from quarterback Brett O'Neil for the 28-0 lead.
It would be more of the same for the Beavers in the second quarter as Crouchman found paydirt once again from 34 yards out and Dalton Smith scampered into the endzone from 30 yards away.
Smith would lead the Beavers in rushing, carrying the ball four times for 78 yards and the one touchdown.
Scott City improves to 9-0 on the season while Cimarron falls to 2-7.
