Two women were wounded in a shooting Monday night at 3208 Louise Ave. in north Dodge City.

Two women were wounded in a shooting Monday night at 3208 Louise Ave. in north Dodge City. A 26-year-old woman was shot in the right leg, and a 64-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen, said Police Chief Craig Mellecker. A private vehicle took both women to Western Plains Medical Complex for treatment.
Mellecker said he did not have information on the victims' condition.
Other people were in the house at the time, but they were not hurt. They are currently being interviewed by police.
Police were originally told that the suspect, a Dodge City man in his 60s, was still armed and inside the house, Mellecker said. But within 15 minutes after police arrived, the man left the house and lay on the ground, where he was arrested without incident.
Mellecker declined to release the names of either the victims or the suspect. It was unclear whether the three were related.
Mellecker said authorities are still trying to piece together details of the shooting.
"Detectives from the sheriff's department and the PD (police department) are still interviewing witnesses to this incident to determine motive and what actually took place," he said.
