Dodge City police are looking for the person who stabbed a local woman early Thursday morning at her home.
Police were dispatched at about 3:10 a.m. to investigate a reported stabbing at 1500 1/2 Fifth Ave., Police Chief Craig Mellecker said in a news release. When they arrived, they found 29-year-old Dodge City resident Noemi Menjivar suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Menjivar was taken to Western Plains Medical Complex, where she was treated and released.
Menjivar bit her attacker during the incident, and police are looking for a 5-foot, 4-inch person with a possible bite mark on the left hand, Mellecker said. A more detailed description of the attacker, including whether it was a man or a woman, was not immediately available. The attacker was still at large as of Thursday afternoon.
Mellecker said it was not clear whether there was any relationship between Menjivar and her attacker, and police have not identified a motive for the stabbing. He added that police are still investigating the incident.
"We are still asking questions and trying to find out who did this," he said.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is encouraged to call CrimeStoppers at 227-STOP (7867)  or the toll-free number 1-877-424-4414. People calling CrimeStoppers will not be asked for their name.
