Carnegie Center for the Arts' celebration for Final Friday will be a winner.
Or rather, it will be a full slate of winners.
The winners of the Darrell Williams Memorial Photography Competition and Exhibition will be announced and recognized at the reception scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Carnegie.
The Williams competition has been held since 1986 to honor Darrell Williams contributions to the art of photography.
Williams worked for ten years as livestock representative and photographer for High Plains Publishers' "High Plains Journal." He also enjoyed photography in his spare time and was particularly attracted to prairie and rural landscapes in southwest Kansas.
The show draws photographers from all over Kansas. There are four entry categories: People, Realism, Computer Manipulated and Manipulation Non-Computer. In addition, an overall grand prize is awarded.
The judge for this year's competition was Rachel Harmon, photographer and owner of Sagebrush Video Productions. Harmon earned a bachelor of arts in radio and television from Kansas State University.     Harmon's projects have been seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and Fox. She has received numerous awards.
As part of Carnegie's Final Friday celebrations, the reception and announcement of the winners is scheduled for Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Providing musical entertainment for the reception will be Alec Ross.
Art students at DC3 will celebrate Final Friday with a student show and sale, including a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.
2nd Ave. Art Guild will celebrate Final Friday with featured artist Andrew Nolan from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
