Southwest Kansans have the opportunity to catch a sneak peek of Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics Critical Care Transport’s new one of a kind airplane.
A member of the Children's Mercy Critical Care Transport team, a Children’s Mercy Neonatologist and a Children’s Mercy Pediatric Intensivist will be on site with the aircraft.
The aircraft’s exterior is “Just for Kids,” courtesy of renowned artist and Children’s Mercy artist-in-residence, Donald “Scribe”Ross. More important, the aircraft has a custom designed medical interior, capable of transporting two critically ill pediatric or neonatal patients simultaneously. Children's Mercy Critical Care Transport utilizes a Beechcraft King Air 200 fixed wing aircraft for transporting patients greater than 120 miles from Kansas City.
Each year, the Children's Mercy Critical Care Transport team transports critically ill infants and children to pediatric specialty centers. The Children's Mercy Critical Care Transport team is the only hospitalbased Neonatal and Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team with a dedicated fixed wing aircraft in Kansas or Missouri. The Children's Mercy Critical Care Transport team is one of the nation’s leading neonatal and pediatric transport team. It transports approximately 5,000 patients a year. The Children's Mercy Critical Care Transport team is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems. The Children’s Mercy Critical Care Transport has been named “Transport Program of the Year” by the Association of Air Medical Services, as well as best fixed wing program and best ground transport program by the Association of Air Medical Services. The “triple crown” is a first; no other program has ever won all three awards.
The plane will be at Dodge City Regional Airport, Crotts Aircraft Service, Inc. located at 102 Airport Road in Dodge City from 7:15- 8:45 p.m., Monday, June 11.
