  • With the passing of the filing deadline for local offices, Ford County residents can choose between three candidates for 2nd district commissioner. The primary election for this position will be Aug. 7.
Chris Boys, the current appointed 2nd district commissioner, will be running against Michael Burkhart and Rebecca Escalante.
Boys and Burkhart have filed as Republicans. Escalante has filed as a Democrat.
Boys said he is running as a next step to his current political involvement in the area. He has been a member of many local boards, run campaigns for politicians like State Representative Brian Weber and Congressman Tim Huelskamp, and has been involved in the 3i Show, among other things.
Boys said he will bring a fiscally conservative approach to the table if  elected. He spoke of tightening the budget  in an interview yesterday.
Boys also identified what he said makes him to unique to his competition.
“I'm up for election because people can see what I'm doing,” he said. “I also listen. I listen to all sides, whether it be Republican or a Democrat, and then weigh in on both sides.”
Other candidates will be coverd in upcoming articles.
