  • Robert Victor Sidebottom, 93, died June 18, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.  He was born on August 21, 1918 in Ransom, the son of Robert Willis and Josephine Esther (Klitzke) Sidebottom.
    Victor was a graduate of Ransom High School.  He served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic in the South Pacific.  Victor married Virginia Maree Knight on December 24, 1954 in Dodge City.  She survives.  He and Carl Claire were partners in Vinson Dental Lab in Dodge City for over fifty years.
    He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, St. Bernard #222 Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Mizpah #9 White Shrine of Jerusalem, Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W., American Legion, and Moose Lodge all of Dodge City.
    In addition to his wife,Victor is survived by a son, Robert Cash,  Pasco, Washington; a daughter, Rebecca Savage, Kenniwick, Washington; a stepdaughter, Virginia Mertens, Grand Junction, Colorado; five stepgrandchildren, Pamela Renfro, Ensign, Cynthia Linville, Bailey, Colorado, Dannetta Titus of DeSoto, Texas, Terry Seemann of Duncanville, Texas, and David Sullivan, Aurora, Colorado; a nephew, Ronald Sidebottom of Dodge City; 21 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild.    He is preceded in death by a stepson, Daniel Seeman and a brother, Ronald Sidebottom.
    Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, June 25, 2012 from Noon - 8:00 P.M..  Memorials are suggested to Friendship Feast or Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
