  • Debra Pennington, current Ford County Treasurer, is running for reelection. She has also served on the USD 443 school board in the past.
“I have had on the job experience for 36 years in the County Treasurer's office, and know every aspect of the duties in the County Treasurer's office,” she said. “I have also taken certification classes administered by Fort Hayes State University and have a Certified Kansas County Finance Manager certificate.”
Pennington added that during her time as Treasurer, tax collection processing has been streamlined for efficiency by utilizing data file transfers for tax collection.
“We have also changed our tax receipting process to further improve the work flow in my office,” she said.
One of the challenges of Pennington's job was the May 2012 implementation of the new state motor vehicle program, she said.
“In order to better serve our customers, I have just implemented a 'Take a Number' system for customers who need to process vehicle registrations and drivers licenses,” Pennington said.
Last, but not least, Pennington said she is very proud of her staff and the service they provide to the citizens of Ford County.
“I am dedicated to customer service; and enjoy working with the public,” Pennington said. “The County Treasurer's duties are guided by state statute, simply directing me to follow laws pertaining to my office. I enjoy working with technology as a tool to simplify work processing.”
