  •      The AMBUCS/Dodge City Days Parade is coming!  This year the parade theme is “Still Taming the West” and will take place Saturday, July 28.  This is the third year the Dodge City Days Parade has been coordinated by the Dodge City Chapter of AMBUCS.
The parade chairman for the AMBUCS/Dodge City Days parade this year is Darrell Roths.  Roths expects this year to be a busy parade with many entries coming in already.
“We are excited about this year’s parade and have been busy gathering up judges," Roths said. "This year, our celebrity judge will be Miss Wheelchair Kansas, Miss Emily Evans.  Emily was a great choice, as she is a local young lady from Bucklin, Kansas who epitomizes the AMBUCS mission."
Entry forms for this year’s parade are due today, July 20, to be eligible for awards, though entries will be taken up until the parade starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 28.  Entries will be judged on the following criteria:  theme, creativity, sound and /or music, and originality.  Categories of entries will be Youth, Commercial, Adult Non-Profit, and Horse/Western Units.   Winners will be announced around 3 p.m. at the Dodge City Days BBQ.
Roths wants to inform parade entrants that the staging area is at the Civic Center parking lot, and the only entrance will be the south entrance off of Morgan street.
“No extra vehicles will be allowed in the staging area this year.  This is to provide safety to the riders of the floats and entries," Roths said.
Once an entry is registered, they will receive an entry number posted on their entry, then will be directed to the staging area in preparation for the parade start.  The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m.
Get your entry form from the Dodge City Daily Globe,  or call 620-339-0194 to have one sent to you, or drop by Phillips Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Center to pick up a registration form.
