  •      The Dodge City Days tradition, Dog Day Afternoon is back again this year with more food, fun and excitement for everyone!
For just $1 you can go down to Wright Park tomorrow starting at 11 a.m. and enjoy hot dogs, chips and Pepsi. A moonwalk will be available for children, and the famous wacky trike races will be back again.
"The wacky trikes are a really fun and popular part of Dodge City Days," said Gina Broeckelman, director of operations for the Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce. "They are oversized trikes that look a lot easier to ride than they really are."
Teams of four will race them through a course that includes two challenging turns. The winners of each race will move on to face another team until finally the top two teams face each other in the championship race. Winners will receive a traveling trophy, and of course, bragging rights.
"Stewart Plumbing has won the past three years," said Broeckelman, "and they'll be back again to race this year."
Anyone wishing to challenge Stewart Plumbing may still sign their team up, right up until the event starts. So far, there are about 20 teams registered.
Monica Astorga will be commentating during the races.
"Even of you're not going to race come down, enjoy a hot dog and cheer on those who are," said Broeckelman. "It's a fun event that everyone really enjoys each year."
