John William " Bill " Dark, 73, died Aug. 28, 2012 at Medicalodges of Kinsley. He was born on March 28, 1939 at Dodge City, the son of Palmer W. and Gretchen (Cheek) Dark.

John William " Bill " Dark, 73, died Aug. 28, 2012 at Medicalodges of Kinsley. He was born on March 28, 1939 at Dodge City, the son of Palmer W. and Gretchen (Cheek) Dark.
He was a graduate of Dodge City High School, and attended Dodge City Community College. In 1960, he married Deloris Webster in Dodge City. He was owner and operator of Bill Dark Motors Chevrolet of Kinsley, from 1965 until 1977 when he retired due to his health. Bill received the  Outstanding Sales Achievement Award several times with Chevrolet, and served as president and vice president of the Legion Of Leaders Sales Club.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dodge City, and a former member of the Kansas National Guard.
He is survived by three sons Scott Dark and wife Barb, Kent Dark and companion Carla Brattin, all of Dodge City, Brad Dark and wife Alyssa, Vancouver, Wash.; one brother Palmer Dark Jr. and wife Mary Lou, Merriam, Kan.; a sister-in-law Marta J. Dark, Camdenton, Mo.; five grandchildren, Adam, Mason, Jacob, Tyler, and Nicole Dark, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Gretchen Dark, and one brother, Joe Dark.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from noon til 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Multiple Sclerosis Society, in care of the funeral home.
