  • The closing day of a retrial for former Dodge City policeman Christopher Tahah was postponed until today. The trial, which began last Tuesday, was originally scheduled to end Friday but ran over and was on yesterday's docket. However, Tahah's defense attorney, Stephen Ariagno of Wichita, requested the postponement due to a family issue, according to Ford County Attorney Terry Malone.
Tahah was found guilty of felony murder and criminal discharge of a firearm in the May 4, 2007 death of his ex-girlfriend Erin Jones. A new trial was ordered by the Kansas Supreme Court which added instructions that would permit the jury to consider the lesser included offenses of second-degree reckless murder or involuntary manslaughter.
Closing arguments and jury deliberation are expected to begin today.
