  • Lawrence Edward "L.E." McDonald, 85, died Sept.15, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born Jan. 12, 1927 at Summerfield, Okla., the son of Edward G. and Willie M. (Gammons) McDonald.
    McDonald attended Oklahoma A. & M. in Stillwater. He served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. McDonald married Patsy Ann Logan on July 3, 1950 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on October 15, 2009.
    McDonald worked locally for Broce Construction Company for many years.
    He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dodge City.
    McDonald is survived by one brother, Walter McDonald of Eufaula, Okla. and one sister, Allene Hamlin of Poteau, Okla. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Burel, Hershel, and Kenneth.
    Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 with Rev. Rick Cope presiding. Entombment will follow at Scroggins Memorial Mausoleum in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home from noon- 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.19, 2012.
