Arlene A. Halling, 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.
She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Hanston, the daughter of George F. Jr. and Ruth Warnock Hertel. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a secretary for the Soil Conservation Office, retiring in 1997.
he belonged to the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hanston.
On Aug. 20, 1940, she married Frank Edward Halling in Kinsley. He died June 15, 1978.
Survivors include: two sons, Anthony of Ashdown, Ark. and Eric of Hugoton; three daughters, Joyce Parrott of Henderson, Nev., Brenda Salmans of Rose Hill and Cheryl Diederich of Lenora; twenty-one grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, George Albert Halling; a brother, Furlyn (Tuff) Hertel, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter.
Vigil was at 7 p.m. yesterday at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hanston. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at the church, with Father Maurice Cummings presiding. Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, Hanston.
