Phillip A. “PAT” Taylor, formerly of Dodge City passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Ill. He was born April 24, 1932 in Jetmore Kansas to Sherman Israel “Chig” and Mary Alice Wilson-Taylor.
He married Eleanor R (Herrin) Roper March 25, 1961 in Round-up, Mont.; she preceded him in death Sept. 28, 1985.
He is survived by his children Patricia & Bill Hohstadt of Lacon, Patrick ”Chappy” & Angi Taylor of Canton, Penny Alice & Willard of Trivoli, Paul & Tammy Taylor of Vero Beach, Flor., Evawn Trenhaile of Colo., Jim & Sherry Roper of Pontiac, Sandra Sigmund of Lacon and Chuck & Paula Roper of Bloomington. Also surviving are one brother, Chuck & Linda Taylor of Dodge City and one brother in law Ralph Klinge also of Dodge City, 21 grandkids and 33 great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers four sisters, a daughter, a son, two granddaughters and one great grandson.
He was a diesel mechanic and over the road truck driver most of his life last working for K&T Trucking in Dodge City retiring for good in 2009.
He was a great musician, sharing his guitar, voice and jokes with all who would listen. His great grandkids loved to hear him play and sing to them to them he was called several things; “Pappy”, “big Grandpa”, “big poppa”.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Cremation rights have been accorded, private burial services will be held at a later date in Dodge City Kansas. Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
