  • The Kansas Lions Foundation is preparing to host their first ever Kansas Talent Night, which will take place next Saturday, Oct. 13 at The Cotillion in Wichita.
The night kicks off with a dinner including beef brisket, chicken with portabella mushroom sauce, a baked potato, green beans, salad, a roll and a drink at 6 p.m. Once dinner has  wrapped up, 11 acts will take the stage to compete to be named the Kansas Talent Night winner.
"We have all kinds of talent that will be performing that night," said Craig Donecker, the vice president of Kansas Lions Foundation. "There will be singers, dancers, some guitar playing and more."
Contestants were selected by submitting a video to YouTube, and the link for the video to the Kansas Lions Foundation. A panel of judges reviewed all the submissions and narrowed it down to 11 finalists. After they have all performed on Saturday, the judges will select five acts to perform a second time, and from there the three winners will be selected.
The first place winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize. Second place will win $500 and third will win $200.
"This is going to be a really fun night," said Donecker. "A lot of talent will be on stage, competing to see who is going to be the best of the best."
Tickets for Kansas Talent night are $50 for adults, $30 for students with their student ID's and $25 for children 12 and under. Tickets will be sold until Wednesday evening and can be purchased at The Cotillion, 11120 West Kellogg St., Wichita, by calling (316) 722-4201 or online at www.thecotillion.com.
All the money raised at this event will be used to support the several programs that the Kansas Lions Foundation works with.
"We do a lot of work with different youth programs, and help provide assistance to people affected by disasters," said Donecker. "We help provide goods that people needed at that time, and any assistance we can give."
