Weldon L. Ewy, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center in Jetmore.
He was born April 22, 1923, in Hodgeman County, Kan., the son of Henry and Anna Ewy. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer/stockman.
Ewy belonged to the Hanston Mennonite Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and served on the church board. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Jetmore Senior Center.
On January 21, 1951, he married Christine H. Ortman in Moundridge. She died Oct. 21, 2008.
Survivors include: a son, Doug and wife Barb, Hanston; a daughter, Barbara Gibbs, Jetmore; two sisters, Frances White, Kingman, Dorothy Buller, Manhattan; two grandchildren, Robert Gibbs, Jetmore and Christie Gibbs, Fort Morgan, Colo.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Norton.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at the Hanston Mennonite Church in Hanston, with Rev. Carl Vincent presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Beckwith Funeral Home in Jetmore. Burial will be in the Hanston Mennonite Cemetery in Hanston.
