Lena Christine "Me-Jah-Be" Gross, 46, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on March 30, 1966 in Kansas City, Mo. the daughter of Arthur and Victoria (Knight) Scavezze.
Gross graduated from Ponca City High School. She then attended Butler County Community College where she received her nursing degree.
On June 28, 2001 she married Kirk Gross in Wichita. After their marriage they moved to Dodge City. Gross was an employee at the Dodge City Medical Center. She was active in Native American culture functions.
Gross is survived by two daughters, Devin Scavezze and Eryn Gross both of the home; her mother, Victoria Scavezze of Ponca City; two brothers, Tony & Jeff Scavezze both of Ponca City; and one sister, Terri Pettay-Tennyson of Aurora, Ill.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at Swaim Funeral Home with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at Swaim Funeral Home.
Additional funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City, Okla.
Burial will follow in the Ponca Indian Cemetery, Ponca City, Okla. Visitation will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City, Okla.
