  • Debra Ann (Bruce) Brenton, 42, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 28 at her parents' home in Leawood, Kan., following a hard-fought battle with a rare form of cancer.
Brenton was born Nov. 20, 1969 in Hays, Kan. to Ruth Ann (Murphy) and D. Max Bruce. Growing up in Western Kansas, she was active in dance, gymnastics, band and twirling. Upon completing studies in Apparel and Textile Marketing at Kansas State University, she moved to Colorado Springs and then Anchorage, Ala., before returning to the Kansas City area to be close to her family.
Whether it was playing a game of cards or travelling around the country, Brenton lived for fun and excitement. She had a profound impact wherever she went, and will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her son, Tyler, 16, of Richmond, Mo.; her parents Max & Ruth Bruce of Leawood, Kan.; her brother Kevin Bruce of Lecompton, Kan.; her sister, Krystal Nicholson, husband William, and son Landon, all of Olathe, Kan.; and many close family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 30 at Amos Family Funeral Home.  Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. October 31st at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 10100 Metcalf Ave Overland Park, KS 66212. Online Condolences may be made at www.amosfamily.com
