Dorothy L. Hunter, 81, died Nov. 9, 2012 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.
She was born Sept. 4, 1931 in Downs, the daughter of Harry and Gladys (Trent) Edwards.
Hunter moved to the Dodge City area with her family at an early age. She graduated from Dodge City High School.
On Aug. 20, 1950, she married Ron Hunter in Dodge City. He survives.
She spent 36 years working in the Ford County Treasurer's office, with the last 16 years serving as the Ford County Treasurer before retiring in 2001.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary both of Dodge City as well as the Republican Women and the G.I. Forum.
In addition to her husband Ron, Dorothy is survived by a son, Jeff Hunter and wife Theron of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Cathy Decker and husband A.T. of Garden City; a sister, Betty Edwards of Fort Dodge; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Daniel Ryder Hunter; and one brother, Robert A. Edwards.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Dodge City with Rev. Lance Carrithers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City.
