  • On Saturday the Dodge City Civic Center, decorated with balloons and Numana-Share the Bounty posters, filled with over 1,200 volunteers. The volunteers worked to pack more than 216,000 meals to be sent to starving people in Africa. With music playing and cheers sounding, volunteers worked line style, packing rice, soy, beans and vitamins in meal bags. Each bag contains six meals and 36 bags are packed into a box. When a box is filled, volunteers give a cheer.
The boxes are placed on a pallet. As a pallet is filled with boxes (10,000 meals) and loaded on the semi, a young volunteer rings the Numana gong. Saturday the gong rang 21 times.
By 4 p.m. the semi was loaded and a feeling of pride and love went with each volunteer. Volunteers had come from as far away as Colorado Springs, by bus from Sublette, the Key club from Meade, the Key club from Cimarron, Hero, Sadd, International club from DCHS, 4-H, scouts, churches and families all helped to Share the Bounty with Africa.
