Delbert “Del” Kienow, 70, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at his home
in Dodge City.

Delbert “Del” Kienow, 70, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at his home
in Dodge City.
He was born Oct. 29, 1942 in Ipswich, S.D., the son of Earl and Velda
Mae Harris Kienow. A Dodge City resident since the early 1960’s, moving from South Dakota, he was a HRC Contractor with the US Postal Service. He also was a truck driver for Rainbow Bread and RPS, worked for Kirby Vacuum and spent ten years in maintenance at Wal-Mart.
He was a member of Prairie Bowman Archery Club and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding 4-wheelers.
He served in the United States Navy and was active during the Cuban Missile Crisis as well as working the flight deck on the USS Independence and USS Shangri La.
On May 4, 2002 he married Loretta Cox McVicker at Ft. Dodge. She survives.
Other survivors include: his son, Mark, Dodge City; his daughter, Michele Schriner and husband Roy, Grant, Colo.; two step-daughters, Rebecca Perez and Shelly Martin both of Dodge City; 11 grandchildren, Sierra Schriner, Mike Schriner, Mark Schriner, Brandon Perez, Jennifer Perez, Teia Perez, Skye Perez, Keith Raub, Santana Raub, Michael Martin and Katie Raub; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an aunt, Dorothy Kienow; and an uncle, Ed Kienow.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at the Kansas Veteran Cemetery, Ft. Dodge with Rev. Dick Robbins officiating and full military rites by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.
Friends may sign the register and view the picture display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
The family suggests memorials to the Cancer Center of Kansas in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
