Barnie H. Lee, Jr., 83, died Wednesday, Nov.14, 2012 at Fort Dodge. He was born Oct. 6, 1929 in Subiaco, Ark., the son of Barney H. Lee, Sr. and Velma Jewell Newman.
Lee moved with his family to Dodge City when he was five and attended schools in Dodge City. He was a PRCA Bull rider in his early years.
He married Geraldine Skaggs on July 25 1951 in Dodge City, she survives.
He entered the Army in March, 1951, during the Korean conflict. He served with the 28th division of the Occupation Forces in Germany as a Medical Corpsman and Cook near Augsburg, Germany. He was discharged in 1953. He later worked for HyPlains Dressed Beef and Winter Feed Yard. He retired from Winter Feed Yard in 1988.
They moved to the Fort Dodge cottages in 2002.
Other survivors include one son, Leon R. Lee and wife, Brenda, Dodge City; eight grandchildren, Chantell Debenham, Abilene, Jeremy Lee, Kansas City, Kan., Jeremiah Lee, Dodge City, Meghan Lee, Manhattan, Brian Lawrence, Larned, Eric Lawrence and Chris Lee, both of Cody, Wyo., Nicole Ames, Coldwater; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sharron Fleming, Coldwater; one brother, Bobby Lee, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brent; twin daughters, Ethel and Deane; four brothers, Carl, James, Charles and Harold Lee; two sisters, Sue King Moran and Padgie Whisler.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 at Swaim Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Groethe officiating. Inurnment with military honors by Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714 will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Dodge. Memorials are suggested to Fort Dodge in care of the funeral home.
